  4. I have a print of La Chanson D’Amour by Goodman, 89′, it is in an expensive frame and has been in the family for about 100 years. I also have a very old print of When the Heart is Young. Is there a place to buy more of these prints? Any market at all? Also, where is the original of the La Chanson D’Amour? Can it be viewed or purchased?

  6. I have an older printing of “Want to see the wheels go wound” that states it is “printed by Maude Goodman”. It is in a very old frame but the frame needs restoration. The picture is behind glass and is in good condition. This one has the name along the bottom, and has not been trimmed. Can anybody give me information based on this on the approximate date and value?

  7. Does any body know who were Maude Goodman’s models. There is a tradition in the family that my husband’s grandmother was the model for ‘Want to see the wheels go wound’ but we can’t verify it.

    • In ‘Want to see the wheels go round’, the model looking into the clock is Maud Goodman’s daughter Sybil, who later became an opera singer. She can be seen in many of the pictures as the little girl with bubbly blonde hair. The scene shows the interior of Maud’s house in Addison Crescent, in Kensington. The flight of stairs leads to the bathroom.
In ‘Un Chant d’Amour’ the two ladies sitting on the Hepplewhite sofa are professional models brought in to sit for the artist. The man seen sitting in the chair, and in other paintings, is Maud’s son. I know these facts as I worked for Sybil (Scanes) in the last year before her death.

  14. I have a rather large print or sketch of “When The Heart Is Young” by M Goodman ’93. It was purchased in the 1950’s in an antique store. It is in good shape except for 2 little tears in the wall above the oldest sister dancing. The size is approximately 36″x24″. What would be the value of this picture? Thanks!

  15. I have a M. Goodman print dated 1902 of a mother (with dark hair) holding a young child (with blonde hair) sitting on a day bed with pillows kissing. It’s black and white and I haven’t seen it in any of Maude’s works. It was printed by 108 Johnson Gordon Co., Chicago

  16. Hello. It’s great to find people who are interested and even better, connected to Maud Goodman. I very much admire her work. I have read in a very old interview type magazine article that the child in Want to see the Wheels go Wound is actually Maud’s son, Leigh, and the painting was inspired when she saw him peering into the clock. Also, I believe that the man in Un Chant D’Amour was also a model. As this was painted in 1889 I think her son would only have been around 4 years old at that time? In relation to the Buckingham Palace query, I’ve also been wondering whether there are still any of Maud Goodman’s paintings in the Royal collection as Princess Louise (daughter of Victoria and Albert) was, I believe, a collector of Maud’s paintings. Any comments welcome. Thanks.

  17. Hi I have a painting or print signed M. Goodman which I purchased at an antique show. It is of two young woman on a sofa, one playing an instrument and the other looking quite bored with a child standing in front of her as the other woman entertains a young man sitting in a chair opposite them. I have not been able to find the title of the painting. It is in, what I’m certain is the original frame and has one problem…on the very bottom right hand corner there is a tear about one inch long. I bought it because it was a great conversation piece!! Does anyone know what painting this is and what it’s value might be? Thanks so much.

  18. Debbie, from the description your print sounds very like “Un Chant D’Amour”. Maude Goodman prints don’t appear to have much value, at least not in the UK.

  23. I have what I believe is an original Maude Goodman showing a child standing on a stool at a table, her father sitting close to her and her mother reclining in an easy chair. The child, seemingly under the instruction of her father, is playing a musical instrument (perhaps a variety of zither) which is on the table. The picture is black and white, signed M. Goodman and dated 1897. Any information will be welcome.

  27. I have a framed signed print of “Love You Best, Mammy” 1902 painted by Maude Goodman. It lists “Copyright Registered Published 1902 By Landeker & Brown 28 & 30 Worship Street London E.C. and entered
According to act of Congress 1902 at Washington Printed in Austria.” It has been in the family for over a century – but I cannot find any information on that particular work. Any help would be most appreciated.
