    There are elements here of a tradition once called Imperial Conditioning, sometimes known as Marionette Programming or more infamously, like the becrowned rats, Monarch Programming. This seems to not get the attention it deserves in mainstream child literature studies. I didn’t do that part of my Librarianship qualification…preferring the Socioloogy of Education,…doh).
    But just google Monarch Programming and children (or any other word of your choice) and a lot of this sort of art comes into a sharper focus. Plus it is really scary.
